Squarespace Website for LMFT Therapist
Client: Jason Markel, LMFT
Project Type: Squarespace Website Design + Copywriting Support + Brand Refinement + SEO Setup
Industry: Mental Health & Counseling
About the Client
Jason Markel is a licensed marriage and family therapist based in California who helps individuals and couples navigate stress, emotional healing, and relational growth through compassionate, evidence-based therapy.
When Jason reached out, he didn’t yet have a strong online presence. Like many private practice therapists, he had been relying on referrals and Psychology Today to bring in new clients. But he was ready for a change — ready for a website that truly represented his professional expertise and the safe, grounded experience he provides in session.
About the Project
Jason came to Carbon & Clay with a clear goal: to build a simple, calm, and inviting Squarespace website that made it easy for potential clients to learn about his approach and schedule a consultation.
He wanted a modern, uncluttered design — something that reflected both professionalism and empathy. He also wanted to make sure the site felt easy for him to update himself over time, without the need for complex maintenance.
What We Created Together
Custom Squarespace Website Design – We built a fully responsive Squarespace site from scratch, centered around a clear client journey that helps visitors feel seen and supported from the first click.
Copywriting Support – We refined his content to sound both grounded and approachable, aligning the language with the therapeutic tone clients expect from a seasoned LMFT.
Brand Refinement – Introduced a soft, earthy color palette and modern serif-sans typography pairing to evoke calm, professionalism, and trust.
SEO Setup – Added foundational on-page SEO including keyword-optimized titles and metadata for terms like “therapist website,” “LMFT in California,” and “therapy for individuals and couples.”
Launch Support – Provided a short walkthrough session showing Jason how to make text and image edits himself, ensuring long-term ease of management.
A Collaborative Design Process
Jason was incredibly engaged and thoughtful throughout the process, which made this project a joy to bring to life. He had a strong sense of what he didn’t want — a cluttered, impersonal therapist site — and trusted us to shape what he did want: something simple, warm, and grounded.
He was open, communicative, and decisive, which made for a streamlined and efficient collaboration from start to finish.
Here’s what Jason had to say about the process:
“I was so impressed by Melissa and the work she did on my website. She was communicable, timely, and affordable. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for website design or branding. I had no idea where to begin and she made it so easy! Her creativity and expertise made my website look so professional — it was honestly much better than I expected. An overall great experience!”
The Result
The finished website gives Jason’s practice the professional home it deserves. It feels calm and inviting while maintaining structure and credibility — the digital version of what it feels like to sit across from him in session.
His new site is already helping him connect with the right-fit clients, communicate his approach clearly, and showcase his expertise with confidence.
Now, Jason has a website he’s proud to share — one that grows with his practice and reflects the grounded, authentic way he shows up for his clients every day.
