How to Make a Simple Logo for Your Website (and Why You’re Probably Overthinking It)

Spoiler alert: your logo isn’t what’s holding you back from making money.

Let’s clear something up right now: Your logo isn’t your brand.

It’s not going to make or break your business. And spending 6 hours tweaking a swirly font isn’t going to get you more clients. Period.

You know what will?

Clarity.
A website that converts.
An offer people actually understand.

Your logo? It’s just a tag at the top of your site. Cute? Sure. Essential? Not really.

So Why Do Entrepreneurs Obsess Over Logos?

Because it feels productive.

It’s easier to spend hours designing a logo than it is to actually build your website or market your offer.

But let’s be honest—your dream clients don’t care about your font choice. They care about the solution you offer and whether you’re the right fit.

What You Actually Need: A Simple, Clean Wordmark

If you’re in the early stages (or just overcomplicating things), here’s what I recommend:

Choose a modern, clean font

Stick with one that’s easy to read and not overly trendy. Sans serif usually wins here.

Use your business name, and that’s it

No icons. No flourishes. No Canva template you spent 3 hours customizing.

Pick 1-2 versions (light and dark)

Export a black version and a white version. You can add a simple favicon later if you want. Done.

That’s literally it.

Tools to Make It Happen in 10 Minutes or Less:

  • Canva – Search “Logo” > choose a clean one > delete all the extras

  • Fontjoy or Google Fonts – To preview clean pairings

  • Coolors.co – If you need help picking your brand colors

Create it, download it, upload it to your Squarespace site.

Now move on to what actually matters: building a site that sells.

The Truth: A Fancy Logo Won’t Fix a Broken Website

I’ve seen too many entrepreneurs obsess over their branding before they’ve even validated their offer.

Your logo won’t bring in leads. Your message, your offer, and your site will.

If you’ve been stuck in Canva limbo, this is your permission to stop.

Pick something simple and clean—and get back to work on the stuff that actually grows your business.
